Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1/2 cup Chef Merito® Seasoned Bread Crumbs

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC).
  2. Cook macaroni according to the package directions. Drain and reserve.
  3. While pasta is cooking, melt 1/4 cup of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk to make a roux.
  4. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Add Cheddar and Parmesan cheese and cook over low heat until cheese is melted and the sauce thickens, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Add cheese sauce over macaroni and mix well.
  6. Pour mixture into a 9" x 13" oven-safe dish.
  7. Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add Chef Merito® Seasoned Breadcrumbs to the skillet and brown.
  8. Spread prepared breadcrumbs over macaroni to cover.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes. Enjoy!
