Tiger Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp. Chef Merito® Shrimp and Seafood Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 lbs. raw Tiger shrimp (or other size; if frozen, do not defrost)

Preparation

  1. In a large pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the shrimp and, before they come to a boil (or have turned pink), drain into a colander.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with several layers of paper towels. Place the drained shrimp on top and refrigerate.

Salsa Dip

Makes: 1 ½ cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mild salsa
  • 4-5 Tbsp. horseradish, cream style
  • 2 tsp. Chef Merito® Fajitas Seasoning
  • 1 tsp. Chef Merito® Lemon Pepper Seasoning
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. minced garlic
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 avocado, cubed

Preparation:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add salsa and blend using a hand mixer or a blender.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and stir together. Taste for seasoning and adjust to your liking.
  3. Serve the salsa with the cubed avocados and the shrimp mixed together. Serve in individual cups, glassware, or on a platter.

Chef Tip:

Shrimp should always be put into boiling water. As soon as they turn pink, they are ready.
