Fried Branzino

Ingredients

  • 2 Branzino, Whole
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 White Onion, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 Bell peppers (yellow, red, green), thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp. Chef Merito® Lemon Pepper
  • 5 oz. Chef Merito® Fish Fry
  • 1 cup of Cooking Oil

Preparation

  1. Thoroughly clean the fish and pat dry.
  2. Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add cooking oil.
  3. While the oil heats up, with a sharp knife, make slashes on a diagonal along the body of the fish every 2 inches on both sides, cutting all the way down to the bone for faster and even cooking.
  4. On a flat plate or tray, generously cover the Branzino with the Chef Merito® Fish Fry.
  5. Carefully place the fish in the frying pan, lowering the heat to medium-low. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Plate the fish and drain the oil from the pan, but do not wipe away the oil from the pan.
  7. Place the pan on medium-high heat and add the onion, bell peppers, and Chef Merito® Lemon Pepper. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Serve the sautéed vegetables by placing them on top of the fish. Garnish with lemon slices and rosemary.
