Servings: 6-8
Ingredients
Crust:
- 4 cups flour
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 ¼ cups water
- 2 Tbsp. Olive oil
Salsa Sauce:
- 1 can whole tomatoes
- ½ onion, cut into 1” pieces
- 1 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
- ½ tsp. Chef Merito® Lime Juice
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and cut into 1” pieces
- 2 cloves of garlic
Fajitas Topping:
- ½ lb. skirt or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- ½ red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- ½ yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 tsp. Chef Merito® Steak and Meat Seasoning
- 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
Preparation
Crust:
- In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and oil, and set aside.
- In a separate bowl or cup, mix yeast, sugar, and ¼ cup water. Let it rest for 10 minutes in a warm place.
- When doubled in size and bubbly, add to the flour mixture and blend. Gradually add the rest of the water to form the dough.
- Knead for 5 minutes until the dough no longer sticks to your hands. Adjust water and flour as needed.
- Form a ball, and let it rest for 1 hour in a lightly oiled and covered bowl.
Salsa Sauce:
Put all ingredients in a food processor and blend. Season to taste and reserve.
Fajitas Topping:
- In a skillet, heat oil, then add onion, peppers, and garlic. Sauté until soft.
- Add sliced beef, sprinkle with Chef Merito® Steak and Meat Seasoning, and cook until the beef is done.
Pizza Assembly:
- When the dough has doubled in size, remove it from the bowl and separate it into 2-3 parts.
- Heat the oven to 430ºF.
- Sprinkle flour on a work surface and extend 1 part of the dough using a rolling pin or your hands. Form a circle or rectangle as thin as you prefer, no thinner than ¼”.
- Transfer the dough to a cookie sheet that has been dusted with flour.
- Spread a thin layer of salsa, then add shredded cheese and arrange beef fajitas on top.
- Bake until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the dough look golden brown, about 15 minutes.
Chef Tip:
It's best to cook homemade pizza on a pizza stone if possible. Chef Merito® Steak and Meat Seasoning can be substituted with Chef Merito® Fajitas Seasonings for a spicier flavor.
