Servings: 4-6
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. Chef Merito® Chicken Seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 gallon vegetable oil
Preparation
- Cut the whole chicken into 4 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 legs, and 2 wings. Set aside. You can also use pre-cut chicken pieces from the store.
- Put the chicken in a large bowl, immerse it in the buttermilk, and season with salt and pepper. Place in the refrigerator and let rest for 2 hours or preferably overnight.
- When ready to cook, take the chicken out of the refrigerator.
- In a deep pot, pour enough oil for deep-frying. The oil should be at least 2” deep. Heat to medium heat, about 350ºF.
- In a bowl, combine the flour and Chef Merito® Chicken Seasoning and mix well.
- Dredge each piece of chicken one by one in the flour mixture to cover well on all sides.
- Place the pieces in the hot oil and fry for about 6 minutes or until golden brown and the juice runs clear.
- Let the fried chicken pieces rest on a tray lined with paper towels.
