Fried Chicken

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Chef Merito® Chicken Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 gallon vegetable oil

Preparation

  1. Cut the whole chicken into 4 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 legs, and 2 wings. Set aside. You can also use pre-cut chicken pieces from the store.
  2. Put the chicken in a large bowl, immerse it in the buttermilk, and season with salt and pepper. Place in the refrigerator and let rest for 2 hours or preferably overnight.
  3. When ready to cook, take the chicken out of the refrigerator.
  4. In a deep pot, pour enough oil for deep-frying. The oil should be at least 2” deep. Heat to medium heat, about 350ºF.
  5. In a bowl, combine the flour and Chef Merito® Chicken Seasoning and mix well.
  6. Dredge each piece of chicken one by one in the flour mixture to cover well on all sides.
  7. Place the pieces in the hot oil and fry for about 6 minutes or until golden brown and the juice runs clear.
  8. Let the fried chicken pieces rest on a tray lined with paper towels.

Suggestions:

Serve with sweet potato fries seasoned with Chef Merito® Fajitas Seasoning.
